We all very well know how much money flows in and out of the film industry. However, ranking the top grosser in the line has always been a tough task. In that context, Forbes recently released a list of the highest paid actors of 2015, and you are sure to be surprised to see some big names, like Liam Neeson, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Will Smith, missing in the list this year.
Well, that obviously has to do with the blockbusters released this year, and the aforementioned names might not have done much magic on the big screen this time. Anyways, here is the list released by Forbes, featuring the current top 6 highest paid actors in the world.
1. Robert Downey Jr. – $80 million
Robert Downey Jr. has done it for the third time in a row. Standing ‘iron’ solid on the #1 spot since 2013, his earnings topped from $75 million in 2014 to $80 million this year. Popular for being Iron Man in Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. is believed to top the Forbes list in 2016 as well with Captain America: Civil War hitting the theaters next summer.
2. Jackie Chan – $50 million
Surprised? Well, most of us would agree that Jackie Chan’s career almost ended in the United States after the release of The Karate Kid in 2010. However, it seems like the actor has been busy making films in China, and thus lands on the second spot of the Forbes list.
3. Vin Diesel – $47 million
Vin Diesel drove his fans crazy once again, when ‘Dominic Toretto’ took the wheels in Furious 7 this year. With an enormous fanbase of around 95 million followers on Facebook, Vin Diesel not only has the most fans on the social network, but also grabs a place among the top three highest paid actors this year.
4. Bradley Cooper – $41.5 million
Though critics say that Bradley Cooper starrer Aloha went in to shadows for being too meandering and insubstantial, the actor was still able to make it to #4 in the Forbes list of highest earners in 2015. Credit goes to his incredible performance in the real-life events inspired movie, American Sniper, as Bradley Cooper’s other films did not do much in the market.
5. Adam Sandler – $41 million
Another big surprise! Though Adam Sandler was not involved in any of the big flicks this year, he as a strong fanbase, who love to see this comedian on the big screen. Besides that, his ‘unique’ formula of making low-budget films also help Sandler earn more. Period.
6. Tom Cruise – $40 million
Tom Cruise’s performance in the Edge of Tomorrow was praised greatly all over the globe. Also, Ethan Hunt came back with another ‘Mission Impossible’ to hit the screens this year and made healthy takings worldwide. That helped actor Tom Cruise cling on to the #6 spot of highest paid actors in 2015, despite the failure of movies like Jack Reacher and Oblivion last year.
7. Amitabh Bachchan – $33.5 million
Another big surprise this year is Forbes featuring Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan on this list. Though some would say that the legendary actor has not been in his top form for some time now, he has been earning high benefits for playing the host in the Indian version of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ television show. Besides that, Amitabh Bachchan hit the big screen in Piku and Shamitabh this year, both of which did an average job at the box office.
8. Salman Khan – $33 million
The Bollywood hunk, Salman Khan is a celebrated actor worldwide. Despite of being trailed by a league of controversies, Salman Khan has always given his fans a treat of muscle and awesomeness in his movies. His recent film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, collected a lump sum $8 million in the opening weekend, and was featured on the USA top 10 Box Office chart for being the top grossing Indian movie of the year.
9. Akshay Kumar – $32.5 million
Locally known as the ‘Indian Tom Cruise’, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been famous for his action packed films since time immemorial. Though the actor shifted gears to comic roles lately, he reincarnated his brilliant ‘butt-kicking’ talent in recent movies like Holiday, Baby, and Gabbar.
10. Mark Wahlberg – $32 million
The 10th man on Forbes list of highest paid actors this year, Mark Wahlberg, recently banked a handsome earning for his sequel of the 2012 comedy-fantasy movie, Ted. Although his other recent movies like The Gambler and Transformers: Age of Extinction did not fare well in the box office, his earnings from Ted 2 was quite enough to help him land on this list.
