When talking about melodies of classical music, Pakistan has produced top singers who proved that music knows no boundary. In this article we are going to know about eight of these widely acclaimed Pakistan classical singers who have drove the whole world crazy with their magical voice!!
Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan
UstadGhulam Ali tops our list. He got his training in classical music and learned to play musical instrument sarangi from the age of five. Some of his popular songs which made people fond of his music were “Kakarusajni” and “Yaadpiyaaanelagi”. Both of these songs won the hearts of people and brought him recognition, appreciation and appreciation. He also sung several spellbinding songs along and attendedmusical concerts in India.
He is a very popular singer known for his soothing and mesmerising ghazals. His name has been listed in the list of the most admired ghazal singers of his time. His singing has got a unique touch of Indian classical music too. In 2013, Ghulam Ali has been given “Ghulam Ali Khan” award. Some of his outstanding ghazals include “Hungamahaikyonbarpa” and “Chupkechupkeraat din”.
Reshma started singing when she was a child. She later became a famousPakistani folk singer. Her miraculous voice captured the hearts of Indian audience and made her popular in Indian Cinema. She lent her voice to some of the chartbuster songs like “Duma dum mast qalandar” and “Lambijudai” which ultimately brought her stardom. She received various accolades and rewards for her earthly voice. Reshma was suffering from throat cancer and died due to this disease in 2013.
Shafqat Amanat Ali
Shafqat Ali wasborn to the great classical singer of Pakistan, Ustad Ali Khan. He had also been the lead vocalist of one of the popular Pakistani band named Fuzon. ShafqatAmanat Alimade his singing debut in Bollywood films withthe support of Shankar Mahadevan. He sung for various Hindi films like “Mitwa”, “Dildaara”, “Tu hi mera” and many more.
Nusrat Ali Khan
The miraculous soothing voice of this singer along with his wonderful musical performances has left everyone spellbound. He has given live stage performances in more than forty countries of the world! Hispopular song “AfreenAfreen” is still remembered by many of us. Nusrat Ali Khan gave his voice to the song “Gurus of Peace” to the popular album “VandeMatram”, a composition by another acclaimed singer A R Rehman to celebrate 50 years of Indian Independence.
Mehdi Hassan Khan
Another noteworthy ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan Khan is popularly called as Shahanshah-e-Ghazal. The soul soothing and peaceful vocals of Khan left many popular Indian singers awestruck. Some of them being established singers LataMangeshkar and Jagjit Singh. His phenomenal voice captured the hearts of millions of Indians in his era.
Rahat Ali Khan
RahatFateh Ali Khan began singing with Nusrat Ali Khan at the age of just three. He hailed from a family of classical singers. When he attained the age of 15 years he joined Qawwal troupe headed by Nusrat Ali Khan. Some of the popular contributions of this troupe were “Mann ki lagan” (Paap), “O re piya” (AajaNach Le), “Main jahanrahu” (Namaste London) etc. which were beautifully sung by him and became popular throughout the country.
He is an amazing singer and has to his credit the title of “fastest keyboard player” in the world. He is brilliant in several kinds of music namely Western Classical, Jazz, Semi-Classical, Rock, Classical, Pop music. His songs “Kabhitohnazarmilao” and “Bheegibheegiraatonmein” won him numerous international awards.
Music has no limits and boundaries. The power of their music has reached distant corners of the world and connected hearts of people. These Pakistani singers have crossed the boundaries and have gained the fame in their country as well as in India. Although, some people tried to give it a political angle as well, but if we ignore this part, these singers has biggest contribution in fading the sourness between the two countries i.e India and Pakistan!!
